Berikut beberapa ketentuan dasar pemakaian 'whether'

Whether sebagai bagian dari subject

Whether he believes me or not means nothing.

(Apakah dia mempercayaiku atau tidak, tidaklah berarti apa-apa)

Hanya whether yang bisa digunakan setelah preposition

My father and I were talking about whether buying a new car is good or not.

(Ayah dan saya telah sedang berbicara mengenai apakah membeli mobil baru baik atau tidak)

Hanya whether yang bisa digunakan sebelum infinitive

Can you decide soon whether to join us or him? 

(Bisakah kamu memutuskan segera untuk bergabung bersama kami atau dia?)
